Don’t Let Your Employer Know You Are Looking
Are letting your current employer know that you are looking for a new job? This can mean the difference of wanting to get a new job and having to get one.
Many employers don’t want someone around who doesn’t want to be there. Someone who is just biding their time until something better comes along?
When applying for another job while still employed it is ok to ask the person at the job interview not to contact your current employer. Most job interviewers will understand the reasoning for this.
Don’t search for job while you are at your current employer. Don’t sit at your desk and search job sites or look in the want ad’s while sitting at your lunch break. This is a dead give away that you are looking.
If you have to make phone calls while at work, do this from a cell phone or a location that people cannot hear you from. Many employers monitor phone calls and may hear what you are saying. Do you really want this to be the way they find out your getting ready to start job interviewing for a better position?
All you have to do is treat your privacy about job searching as if you were talking to your family doctor about health issues.
