Job Interview Do Nots
These are just some basic to things to avoid when interviewing:
Reschule an interview
- This makes an employer think that you are unavailable which in turn means you may not be available for the job either.
Show up late
- Tardiness is unexceptable.
- If you can’t show up on time for an interview what makes them think you will show up on time for your shift.
Come under dressed or overdressed for the postion
- This will make an employer think that you have no idea what the job is about.
Bring other people to an interview
- Unfortantly people do this .. such as children, spouse or friend.
- If you get a ride their have them wait in the car.
- Leave the kids at home.
Look at your watch
- When someone is asking interview questions and you look at your watch this will make think that you are not interested in what they are saying or about the job.
Lie
- If an employer finds out that the information that you stated or supplied during your interview or on your application or resume was false this will be an immediate red flag.
Hold back
- This is a time to gloat. Show what you have done and have the skills and ability to do the job.
- You are selling your self and your knowledge.
Falsify documents
- Fill out any paperwork accurately and honestly.
Swear or use inappropiate language
- This is another red flag for an employer.
- It makes you look unproffesional.
State unnecessary details
- Don’t sit and talk about last weeks fishing trip or that great store you just found.
- Let them bring up unrelated topics not you.
- Act professional at all times.
Try and avoid anything that will make you look bad or put you in a negative light during a job interview. First impressions mean a lot!
