Job Searching

When searching for a job on the internet, don’t limit yourself to just the employment boards and want ads. Check individual company websites for job openings.

I know that sites like monster, career builder, simply hired, and even your local paper is a great place to find jobs. But there are thousands of employers who never post to these. You have to actually go to their website, look under careers or employment. Almost all companies will have a link displaying their current openings.

What I do is, do a little research. Think about what companies you’d like to work for. What companies have you heard are good to work for? Who’s big? Who can help your career? Make a list of these companies. Go to their websites and find what they have to offer.

Lots of times, I’ll just send out resumes even if I don’t find an exact job I want. I at least get my resume in the door. Who knows, maybe they have something else to offer me.

So, don’t get stuck on the employment boards. Use individual websites as well to find great openings!
