Secretarial Interview Questions

There are many main points you want to cover when hiring someone a secretarial position. Here are a few good interview questions to ask:

  • Experience - why this is important, it is not always necessary
  • Ability to multitask - this is very important since they will be doing a lot of different things for you and your company
  • Customer service skills - this is who your customers have first contact with. You don’t want a rude person answering your phones
  • Typing ability - almost all positions today require this
  • Confidentiality – this is very important. They may have access to confidential information that you do not want shared with others.
  • Follow directions - You want to know that when you give this person a task to do that they can accomplish it with out any problem.
  • Problem solver - you may come across the disgruntle customer and you want a person that can help resolve issues with out having to get you involved.
  • Computer knowledge - This may very depending on what software your company may use. But make sure they have the ability to understand what you do use.
  • Personal appearance - if this is a person that sits at a front desk and customers or potential customers may see you don’t want them being discouraged by the first person you see. You employees are an extension of you and your company.
  • nowledge - Is the applicant someone you would trust making decisions without having to confront you on every little decision.
